Learn To Speak Up!

Aug 20, 2020

Let’s talk about the fear of confrontation. Most people live with this fear every day. They were never taught how to be comfortable verbally communicating with others. They dread the thought of being vulnerable with someone else and showing them all sides of themselves. Their feelings, emotions, needs, and thoughts are continuously buried underneath this fear that lives inside of them.

Why do we have this fear?

When you were a child, you tried to assert yourself or share your thoughts and feelings; you were shut down. You were ignored. Maybe you were made to feel wrong for having the feelings you did or perhaps shamed for sharing your opinions.

As this abuse was repeated, time and time again, this became part of how you were programmed. You then grew up into an adult unconsciously having a fear of telling others how we feel. This happened for a multitude of reasons.

1. You fear someone will think you are a bad person.

2. You fear someone will leave you.

3. You fear the person will become argumentative and you do not trust yourself to handle that situation.

4. Perhaps you do not feel worthy to stand up for yourself.

5. Maybe you fear someone thinking you are asking for too much.

Let’s learn how to overcome this fear and become a self-loving healthy adult.
