Are you Distracting Yourself so you do not have to deal with life?

The addiction to keeping busy is a real thing. It is easy to allow the distractions of life to take over to avoid our thoughts and feelings. We live in a world where we are constantly busy and stimulated. From social media to the internet to mindless TV watching, to kids, to bills and work, we are busier than ever!

Since we live in the age of constantly keeping our schedules full, we must learn the art of being still. More importantly, this skill of controlling our minds. As we fill our days with work, kids, and responsibilities, it is easy for us to avoid the never-ending chatter that is going on in the background of our minds.

At times we can experience a slowing down of life when we end a relationship. When work is not as busy, and we do not have much to do. When we are quarantined and cannot live our normal busy on the go-lives, when these changes in life happen, we are forced to sit still. We are forced to deal with our thoughts. Here is where our fears, worries, insecurities, and anxieties come up.

The real challenge comes in the beginning to practice self-awareness and the discipline of controlling our thoughts. Without this skill, you will continue to live the same life and get the same results. You will still have your fears, worries, insecurities, and anxieties. You will remain stuck in old patterns that are not helping you get the next level of your life.
The reason why you are here is that you do not want to stay stuck. You want to move on with your life and begin creating it rather than letting life happen to you.

Only by sitting with the real underlining thoughts you have that are fear-based can you begin to reprogram your mind and heal. This is where loving yourself comes into play. This is where self-parenting takes place. This is where nothing you feel or avoid feeling could ever be “too much” for you to handle. The reason being, they are just thoughts.

Thoughts used to scare me until I realized it was just a thought, and I realized it could be changed. It also helped as I began this process to learn that I am not my thoughts. That was a powerful concept that ultimately changed my life because I no longer believed everything that came up in my mind. I realized most of my thoughts came from my subconscious, which is where my programming lives.

Also, recognizing that I did not program myself that other people and outside influences helped mold that part of me, it became even more apparent that it was time for me to create new thoughts. Ones that I believed and not just ones I have been habitually thinking for the past 30 years.

Now that you understand this and you do not have any distractions to keep yourself away from your inner worries, thoughts, demons, or fears, you can face them. You can begin to see them and not run from them. Here is where you start to heal. By recognizing you distract yourself with life instead of dealing with yourself is where you will start.
